Art Exhibition Shows ‘Cream’ Of The Cats & Dogs Crop
For the first time since it opened in 2009, prestige art gallery Dogs in Art at Stockbridge Gallery in Hampshire is allowing cats in to play with the dogs! The reason for this rare occurrence is the gallery’s next exhibition, rather amusingly titled ‘Reigning Cats and Dogs’.
The exhibition will run from Saturday 13th October to Saturday 3rd November and is intended to be a light-hearted look at these domestic pets that gradually come to reign supreme in our home – and our hearts.
Run in conjunction with the Society of Feline Artists (SOFA), the exhibition will feature the ‘cream’ of the crop among artists who focus on either cats or dogs as the subject of their works, including painters, sculptors, photographers, jewellers and textile specialists.
Dogs in Art already showcases a plentiful collection of esteemed dog artists and owner Victoria Armstrong is now curating a special collection of works to feature in the show. Meanwhile, members of SOFA have been invited to submit works for consideration to represent the cats, which will include some ‘big cats’ alongside our beloved domestic moggies!
Media and special guests will be invited to preview the exhibition on Saturday 13th October between 12 noon and 2pm, and it will remain available for public viewing until Saturday 3rd November. The gallery is open to the public every week from Tuesday to Saturday and private viewings are available by appointment.
