The Feline Advisory Bureau or FAB CATS has been re-branded and become International Cat Care. The annual awards ceremony was held on the 29th floor of Millbank Tower in London at Altitude 360, on the 6th of September. This was the perfect stylish setting to launch a new modern image.
This year there was a new photographic competition. The charity wanted to find exceptional images of cats, celebrating their unique appeal. They teamed up with Digital Photographer and Your Cat Magazine to launch the competition. They were all gorgeous images and reflected intense observation and much love of the subject.
Phil Croucher was the overall winner in the adult category and the junior winner was Gaby Ayrey. Congratulations to the winners. One of our members, Denise Laurent was also involved with her close up of a cat’s claws.
Several awards were given for things that have helped all of us in our daily caring and understanding of cats. Among them were the first “Cat Friendly” Awards. International Cat Care wanted to recognise products which have made a real difference to cat wellbeing and welfare.
The very first Cat Friendly Award has been presented to Ceva Animal Health for Feliway. By mimicking the cat’s natural facial pheromones, Feliway creates a state of familiarity and security.
The second award went to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for their Hide, Perch and Go box. By watching how cats adapted to the highly stressful rescue environment in their first few days, BCSPCA’s Nadine Gourkow came to realise how important it was for cats to have somewhere to hide.
The third award went to Cats Protection for taking the concept of hiding and having a high vantage point a little further in their Feline Fort.
We have always enjoyed our association with ICC and the work they do to improve the lives of our cats.
