A tiger lowers its face towards the water, and another face meets it beneath the surface. Mirrored Beauty by Helen Turkdogan holds our attention across that meeting, setting the presence of a powerful animal beside the shifting nature of its reflection.

Helen made the drawing in coloured pencil on paper. Working realistically with light and ripples challenged her skills, and those demands are part of what makes the subject rewarding to explore. The tiger’s markings continue into water, where they change with the reflected image.
The artist wanted a contrast between wild strength and the calm, fluid character of water. Her wider hope is that wildlife art can encourage a greater appreciation of endangered animals. This drawing gives us time to look closely rather than hurry past.
Framed and mounted, it is an intimate encounter with a big cat. Spend a moment following the face into the reflection and notice how the feeling of the animal changes below the waterline.
