A cat sculpture can change with the light around it. Lounging by Felicitos Blanco is made from transparent acrylic, painted on the reverse so that colour glows through the material. As light passes through, shifting reflections become part of the pleasure of the piece.
The series grew from the studio company of Frankie and Judy, the artist’s two cats, and an interest in the mid-century modern design of Palm Springs. Feline presence and the character of a place meet in a form intended to sit comfortably within a home.
Two silhouettes are joined with simple hardware, giving depth and allowing the sculpture to stand without a base. The work belongs to a limited production and carries the artist’s signature and seal of authenticity.
A portion of the proceeds supports Palm Springs Animal Shelter. For a collector who enjoys colour, design and cats, Lounging offers several stories to enjoy alongside its changing relationship with the daylight.
