One week left: the Winter Exhibition closes on Sunday 15 November

There is one week left to explore the Society of Feline Artists Winter Exhibition before it closes on Sunday 15 November. If you have been meaning to return for a longer look, this is a good moment to spend some time with the works that caught your attention.

The exhibition brings together full members and other exhibiting artists, with different approaches to the animals we love. You can move from an intimate face to a colourful scene, or discover a sculpture for a favourite corner. Here are three very different pieces to revisit.

Golden Tabby by Denise Laurent S.O.F.A

Golden Tabby by Denise Laurent S.O.F.A.

A warm and expressive watercolour painting of a long-haired tabby cat, painted on 14 x 10 inch Bockingford watercolour paper. This portrait focuses on one beautiful eye, soft golden fur and delicate tabby stripes. There is something wonderfully intimate about this kind of composition, as if she has just settled beside you and is looking up from your lap.

Ruby Does St Tropez by Lynne Reeves

Ruby Does St Tropez by Lynne Reeves

Ruby and all the other details are hand drawn in graphite, and are collaged onto a canvas which has been layered with gold leaf which has been lightly varnished to give a slightly tarnished effect. This gives a backdrop for the whole. The coloured parts are painted in dry acrylic paints.

Inscrutable by Lucy d’Auvergne

Inscrutable by Lucy d’Auvergne

Inscrutable and self-contained, this Norwegian Forest Cat meets the observer without invitation or apology. There is no performance, only the calm confidence of an individual entirely at ease in his own world. The sculpture explores the quiet mystery that so often defines our relationship with cats: familiar, yet ultimately unknowable.
