The AGM was held on Saturday 21st September 2013. With the extension of the SOFA Exhibition at Llewellyn Alexander this year we were unable to get our usual room at the Union Jack Club on collection day. So the AGM was held at the Auberge Bar and Restaurant in Sandell Street. It was a lovely venue and they looked after us very well. If you were not able to come you missed some wonderful food!
Kay Young gave the Chairman’s report and Lois Sykes gave the Exhibition and Publicity Officers report.
Once the business of the AGM was concluded Kay presented this year’s Stephanie Kay Manchipp Memorial Award. The award is presented in honour of Stephanie Manchipp, who was passionate about encouraging new members to become full members of the society. In her memory, the society will award a prize each year for the most outstanding work by a new member.
S.O.F.A. is very pleased to announce that the second Stephanie Kay Manchipp Memorial Award for new members goes to Patricia Clements whose wonderful pastel paintings are colourful and beautiful. She was presented with a certificate, designed by Ben Manchipp, and a cheque for £100 by our Chairman Kay Young.

Several of our members have had books published and they brought them along to the AGM. Alex Johnson has work included in the The Printmakers Cat, France Bauduin has illustrated several books by Marilyn Edwards, and Daphne Lanham and Yasmin Donlon have written their own books. We took the opportunity to photograph them together with their books. Congratulations to all of them.
And of course there’s always cake at the AGM!
