The arrival of this eight week old calibby female kitten was the start of a long healing process, having suffered from poor mental health since COVID. She made me focus on the positives and kept me busy as I introduced her to my other, three, cats.
During this period of her settling into in my life, I was following a SOFA artist, Denise Laurent, having seen one of her original paintings at a SOFA Exhibition many years ago! Denise’s cat portraits always made me smile and I felt able to contact her, sending her photos of Maisie as she grew through her kittenhood. It was a wonderful surprise when I saw, on Denise’s Facebook page, a beautiful portrait, in oils, of Maisie.
Since receiving this portrait, now hanging, proudly, on my wall and with Denise’s support, I’m able, after many years of feeling unwell, to practice my own art, in a small way; with, hopefully, a return to painting my own cat portraits.
