Associate Membership

Associate Membership is open to any Artist, over 18 years of age, producing original ‘feline’ art of domestic or wild cats. Membership is by selection panel ONLY.

What The Society Is Looking For

The Society is looking for works of quality, originality and consistency of standard depicting the whole cat as well as portraits.

  • Artwork depicting cats ,wild or domestic
  • Paintings in any medium, drawings, etchings etc are all admissible.
  • Sculptures and other 3-D work are also admissible.
  • CATS only please, do not include any other subject.

Copyright
When using published photographs as reference material, it is vitally important to be aware of copyright. No direct copying of any photographs is permitted, or of course, of any other Artist’s work.

Associate Membership Benefits

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS will receive:

  • Notification of all Society activities
  • An invitation to submit work for selection for the Annual SOFA Exhibition, although with no guarantee that work will be hung
  • An invitation to submit work for selection for SOFA online shows, although with no guarantee that work will be hung
  • NO ENTITLEMENT TO USE THE SOCIETY’S INITIALS after the Artist’s name
Online Exhibitions
Invitations will be sent to full and associate members to enter an online exhibition. To enter, your work must be for sale and you need to be able to ship your sales to the customer.

This annual subscription for Membership is £30.00

How To Join

Apply Online

You will need to fill in our online form and submit five artworks of cats, domestic or wild, including at least one image portraying a whole cat.  Photos uploaded should be no larger than 1 megabyte please.

If you are submitting 3D work please make sure to send photos of the front and the back of the piece.

The Selection Process

After your application has been submitted, you will be informed of the Selection Committee’s decision by email (please note, this process can take up to 3 weeks).

If your application is successful, you will then be invited to pay your membership fee either by card, PayPal or cheque and once payment has been received your membership pack will be sent.

Note: The committee’s decision will be final and not open to question.

Overseas Applicants

We welcome members from all over the world. As an associate you will be eligible to submit work for selection for our online exhibitions.

You will also be eligible to submit work for selection in our London exhibition. However please be aware that all works have to be handed in and collected, in person. We have no facility for accepting work by post. Our overseas members tend to have family or friends in the UK with whom they make these arrangements.

Becoming A Full Member

Full Membership is open to associate members and is by invitation only.

Exhibiting

The Annual London Exhibition is open to all Members both Full and Associate. You must be a fully paid up member to exhibit and all works must be handed in in person.

Framing Requirements

Paintings submitted to Galleries for consideration to be exhibited must be well mounted and framed, no metal frames please, and they should be strung ready for hanging using ‘D’ rings to prevent damage to other paintings. Badly presented work will be refused.
